Delphi

Delphi is located high in the mountainous region to the north of Athens, yet it surprises visitors with a view to the Gulf of Corinth below. Delphi is surely one of the most beautiful places in the world. The ancient Greeks agreed, calling it the center of the world. The Sacred Precinct of Delphi is composed of the Temple of Apollo, the theater, the bouleuterion, numerous treasuries and many monuments and alters. There is also a stadium, which was the location of the Pythian games, and the ancient gymnasium. The Museum of Delphi contains alarge collection of objects from the site. It houses an omphalos stone, a life size silver and gold bull, the Sphinx of the Naxians, and the famous bronze statue of the Charioteer.
