Kom Ombo

Kom Ombo is 105 miles south of Luxor and 30 miles north of Aswan on the east bank of the Nile.
The Temple of Haruar and Sebek was dedicated to the worship of the hawk-headed god Haruar and the crocodile Sebek. To avoid avoid giving offense to either of these two patron gods of the town a twin temple was constructed. The one of the left was for Haruar and the one on the right for Sebek. They were built during the Ptolemaic period, in the second century bc. The columns, capitols, and low reliefs are very beautiful. In places there are sketches for reliefs that were never sculptured.
