This morning, you’ll visit the Duomo, Siena’s cathedral. You’ll walk the Piazza del Campo, famous for the Palio horse race. Also visit the Sanctuary of Santa Caterina, incorporating the house of St. Catherine of Siena and containing the 12th Century Cruifix from which the Saint received her stigmata. Celebrate Mass at one of the churches in Siena.

Siena

Siena is a medieval city rich in art treasures. The cathedral is one of the earliest of the great Tuscan Gothic Churches. Siena’s cathedral, the Duomo, is one of the great examples of Italian Romanesque architecture. The Piazza del Campo, the town square, is another architectural treasure. Other churches inthe city include the Basilica dell'Osservanza, Santa Maria dei Servi, San Domenico, San Francesco, Santo Spirito, San Martino, and the Sanctuary of Santa Caterina.
