Our Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies had the privilege of digging for 3 years at Kursi earlier this decade. The teams uncovered a spa complex which was surmised to be part of a chain of resting places for pilgrims from the Greek Orthodox tradition on their way to Jerusalem in the 6th and 7th centuries. Indeed other sites have been uncovered in that chain to Jerusalem. These places were places of rest for those early pilgrims. Thus, a good mediation here is to consider the Christian's rest.
II Samuel 7:1
1: And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies; I Chronicles 23:25
25: For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever: Psalm 37:7-11
7: Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8: Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9: For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. 10: For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 11: But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
