Rising 1000 feet above sea level, the traditional Mount of Temptation overlooks Jericho to the west and marks the site where tradition says Christ was tempted. A Greek Orthodox monastery was built on the mount in the 6th century and can be near the top of the mount. The Mount of Temptation can be easily seen from Jericho.
