Edfu

Seventy miles south of Luxor is Edfu. It is approximately halfway between Luxor and Aswan.
The Temple of Horus at Edfu is practically intact and is perhaps the very best reserved monument in Egypt. It was built between 237 and 57 bc, under the direction of Ptolemy III, Euergetes I, Philopator, Philometor, and Euergetes II. The god Horus is shown as a great falcon with a double crown. Beautiful columns, relief, inscriptions, and a view from the top of the temple make a visit to Edfu very worthwhile.
